Action Research Projects
The Sixth Form College Farnborough is one of only a handful of institutions nationally to hold the distinction of being ‘research-engaged’.
The award was presented to the College in 2010 at a national conference by the National Foundation for Educational Research in association with the Learning and Skills Improvement Service, Institute for Learning, National Union of Teachers, National College and Education Journal. The idea, as mentioned on the NFER website, is to recognise “commitment to putting research at the heart of practice in schools and colleges”.
The College actively encourages staff to carry out research through a structured programme, led by David Godfrey, Assistant Director of Personalised Learning. This approach has been cited as an example of good practice by Ofsted on the LSIS ‘Excellence Gateway’.
Many of our teachers publish their findings in national journals and their project outcomes are disseminated at our annual conference. Details of current and past projects can be accessed on our Action Research site.
