A Beacon College

Farnborough Sixth Form College was one of the first four colleges in the country to be awarded Learning and Skills Beacon status, in recognition of its excellent teaching, learning and management skills. In addition, the College has won three individual Beacon Awards for outstanding teaching of the sciences and mathematics.

On a recent visit to the College, Education Minister, Lord Andrew Adonis, praised the manner in which the College engendered "loyalty and enthusiasm", echoing the words of former Minister, Dr Kim Howells MP, who described the College and all he saw as "inspirational".

Dr Ken Boston, Chief Executive of the Government's Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, said when making awards at the College's Presentation Evening, "There is no finer institution at which you could have studied for your A levels".

When Sir Mike Tomlinson, former Chief Inspector of Schools, presented Farnborough students with the first certificates in the country for the Extended Project, he said, "At Farnborough you have proved that the young people of this country can measure up to the challenge we proposed to government ministers in 2004 - you have set a national standard for the future".
