The Principalship
Simon Jarvis
Principal
Prior to his appointment as Principal in 2010, Simon was Vice Principal of the College. He joined the College in April 1990, initially as Senior Tutor before becoming Vice Principal in 1992, taking responsibility for the curriculum. Before joining the College, Simon spent 12 years at Portslade Community College in Brighton. He is a graduate of English from the University of Southampton, completed a PGCE at Sussex University and holds an MSc in Education from the University of Surrey.
Gordon Dodds
Deputy Principal, Finance and Administration
Gordon was appointed to the College in May 1992, having previously been a bank manager with Lloyds Bank. He has overseen the development and financial organisation of the College from an LEA institution to its current status as a charitable corporation, and has led on the development of the College buildings and estate.
David Woodward
Deputy Principal, Data and Communication
David was appointed to the College in 1980 as a teacher of mathematics. He introduced computing to the College and has masterminded the planning and development of the innovative Management Information System, CRISTAL, which has been sold to other colleges.
Catherine Cole
Deputy Principal, Student Services
Catherine was appointed to the College as a Personal Tutor in 2004, having previously been a Head of Sixth Form in a comprehensive school in Shropshire. She has worked with young people in the 16-19 age group all her teaching career and spent four years working in a school in Sydney, Australia. She became an Assistant Director with responsibility for Gifted and Talented students and has worked with the local consortium helping to implement the 14-19 Diplomas. Catherine teaches Modern History. She was appointed Deputy Principal in June 2009.
Vince Scannella
Deputy Principal, Curriculum and Innovation
Vince was appointed to the College as Senior Curriculum Manager in Biology in 1994. He has worked his way up the ranks, with promotions to Assistant Director of Faculty in 2000, Director of Teaching for Learning in 2004, Associate Assistant Principal in 2006 and to his current post of Deputy Principal in June 2010. Vince has been involved in much of the innovative work of the College and has a particular interest in how emotions can be managed to improve learning.
