The Principalship


 

Dr John Guy Dr John Guy OBE
Principal
Prior to his appointment as Principal in 1992, Dr Guy was Principal of St Philip’s Sixth Form College in Birmingham. Previously he had taught in grammar, independent and comprehensive schools in Warwickshire and Cumbria. He has served on a number of government committees, including the Tomlinson Committee on 14-19 reform. He is a Governor of Oxford Brookes University.   In 2001, he was awarded the OBE for services to education.
Simon Jarvis
Vice Principal
Mr Jarvis was appointed Vice Principal in 1992, having previously been a Senior Tutor at the College. He is a graduate of English from Southampton University and undertook a degree of Master of Science (Education) at the University of Surrey. He has overseen the successful introduction of Curriculum 2000 and the innovation programmes throughout the College.
Gordon Dodds 
Deputy Principal, Finance and Administration
Mr Dodds was appointed to the College in May 1992, having previously been a bank manager with Lloyds Bank. He has overseen the development and financial organisation of the College from an LEA institution to its current status as a charitable corporation, and has led on the development of the College buildings and estate.
David Woodward 
Deputy Principal, Registry
Mr Woodward was appointed to the College in 1980 as a teacher of mathematics. He introduced computing to the College and has masterminded the planning and development of the innovative Management Information System, CRISTAL, which has been sold to other colleges.
 
 
Catherine Cole
Deputy Principal, Student Services
Ms Cole was appointed to the College as a Personal Tutor in 2004, having previously been a Head of Sixth Form in a comprehensive school in Shropshire. She has worked with 16-19 young people all her teaching career and spent four years working in a school in Sydney, Australia. She became an Assistant Director with responsibility for Gifted and Talented students and has worked with the local consortium helping to implement the 14-19 Diplomas. Catherine teaches Modern History. She was appointed Deputy Principal in June 2009.
