Click here for pictures of the performanceStudents from Farnborough Sixth Form College produced a spectacular Summer Fusion of Dance at the College’s Prospect Theatre last week. The performance, which was the culmination of their A level work in choreography and dance, was inspired by poetry, music and literature.
The production was jointly directed by College dance tutors Sally Allsford and Emily Burke, who work closely with London’s Royal Academy of Dance. Speaking after the performance, Miss Allsford said, “The students have reached incredibly high standards of both performance and choreography this year and we are really proud of their achievements”.
The spectacular finale was choreographed by second year students, Emma Beeson, 18, of Camberley and Jenny Crutcher, 18, of Fleet. Over 30 dancers held the audience spellbound by their interpretation of Latin, Ballroom and Flamenco movement, with brilliant use of stage lighting and colourful costume choice.
Emma, who hopes to study law at university next year, said, “It was really great to have the opportunity to choreograph such a large group of dancers in a different style which reflected the Latin, Ballroom and Flamenco moods which Jenny and I specialise in”.
After the performance, College Principal Dr John Guy, said, "The College is the largest centre for A level dance in the country and this evening you have set new standards of achievement both in performance and choreography. It has been a privilege to be present".
