College breaks Red Nose Record
For students at Farnborough Sixth Form College, the red noses available for sale from Comic Relief just didn’t pass muster – so they created a massive human red nose on the sports field clearly visible to passing aircraft! And flying high in the sky in a helicopter donated by Farnborough Aerodrome’s TAG was College Principal Dr John Guy to capture the event on film.
The College’s Student Association, President Nick Coxon, said, “This was our most successful charity event yet – with over a thousand students on the field with red sheets to form the country’s biggest red nose!”.
The students first formed a massive six on the ground, representing the College’s well-known logo, and at Nick’s command, they morphed into the red nose. Nick added, “We are really grateful to TAG for supporting the College students in their charity collections – it gave a real lift to the occasion”.
Students were engaged in a host of charitable activities, including sponsored leg and chest waxing and face painting. They raised over £1200 for Comic Relief and the College’s efforts were featured on BBC television.
