Students at Farnborough Sixth Form College took part in Breast Cancer Campaign’s ‘wear it pink’ day
Students at Farnborough Sixth Form College took part in Breast Cancer Campaign’s ‘wear it pink’ day last week and raised over £1400 in a single day. The whole College wore an item of pink and there were cake sales, face painting and a magic show - all with ‘pink’ themes. Sales of pink candy floss provided by Candy Floss Carts soared.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer and one woman in nine will be affected by it during her lifetime in the United Kingdom. The money raised by the college from ‘wear it pink’ will help keep Campaign researching the cure for breast cancer.
Saquib Malik, 18, of Farnborough is a second year student at the College studying English, History, Politics and Philosophy and is the College Charities Officer who masterminded the day. He said, “We really enjoyed taking part in ‘wear it pink’ this year and the money we raised will help Breast Cancer Campaign to continue researching the cure.”
After last year’s event which raised £1000, the student charities officer Millie Schurch was invited to a reception in the House of Lords. College Principal Dr John Guy said, “Last year’s result was outstanding but this year the students have set a new College record for a charities collection”.
