Three years ago, Farnborough Sixth Form College's open day brought the Borough to a halt as motorists queued from the M3 to Prospect Avenue to visit the College. Such were the traffic jams that some parents left their cars blocking neighbouring roads in order to visit the College.

"It was a nightmare", recalls College Principal, Dr John Guy. We were completely inundated by visitors and unable to cope with the demand. Since then, the College has opened on two successive evenings, easing congestion by spreading the load of visiting parents and students, and using AA signage and experienced car park marshalls.

Visitors describe the College as feeling more like a university than a school sixth form, one of the major factors in the College's recent success.

"We are proud of the achievements of our students and it is a delight to have so many wishing to visit the College to see at first hand the wonderful new facilities we have built to place the College among the very best in the Country", said Dr Guy.

Visitors will be able to visit the new Whitehouse building with the first e-assessment centre in the country developed in Partnership with 3M of Bracknell, and also the Beacon Building with the magnificent stained glass window designed by student, Lorna Robertson. The Prospect Theatre, opened four years ago by Prince Edward, will be the venue for question and answer sessions with the Principal and with the Student President, Philip Gradwell, and his team.

Early applications for entry in September 2006 will be necessary to secure a much sought after place at the College.
