Performing Arts students at Farnborough Sixth Form College raise over £2000 last week for charities

Performing Arts students at Farnborough Sixth Form College raised over £2000 last week for charities with a series of productions ranging from Strictly Come Dancing to a fashion show. The week culminated with a spectacular X Factor show held in the College's Prospect Theatre in front of a packed audience.

Ten students had progressed through gruelling auditions, each one videoed, to the final where the three judges, student Amelia Slaughter, and music teachers Ben Dowsett and Paul Bambrough, gave hard-hitting advice to the would-be stars. The competition was won by 17 year old, Tom Holder from Bisley, who is studying German, Spanish, Psychology and Art Graphics.

Tom sang Uptown Girl by Westlife and Amazed by Lone Star and stunned the audience with the strength and sensitivity of his voice. The final audience vote made him the clear winner - with the clear potential to become a star! Tom said, "I really didn't think I'd have a chance of winning - but it feels just great!"

Hannah Chase, 16, of Farnborough was one of the organisers of the X-Factor. She said, "It was hard work but it really paid off on the night and we were really proud of what we achieved - and of the talent of our fellow students".
