Students win Gold and Silver in national design competition

Four students from the Farnborough Sixth Form College win national recognition by The Institute of P
Four students from the Farnborough Sixth Form College have won national recognition by The Institute of Packaging in a competition to design packaging for sun care products. The awards ceremony was held at the National Space Centre at Leicester (30 March 2006).
Kourosh Atefipour, 16, of Camberley, Katy Gravett, 16, of Sandhurst, Gemma Hockey, 17, of Ash Vale, and Jonathan Rennison, 17, of Farnborough, won two gold and two silver awards respectively.
Bob Dunn, Head of design at the College, said, "This was a tremendous achievement and the department is proud to have won the most awards of any College in the country".
Gold medal winner, Katy Gravett, said, "It is thrilling to have achieve a gold medal in a national competition - I never believed I could do it!"
Kourosh Atefipour also won an additional award from the Packaging Society for the best supporting folder. He said, I have really enjoyed the work leading to this competition and it has given me a real insight into the use of design in industry".
The students have had their designs published in a book to celebrate their work and the designs will shortly be shown on the Institute of Packaging website (http://www.iop.co.uk/).
